There's a vast universe of ETF investment options available, and once all opportunities are narrowed down and aligned with particular investment ideology, investors evaluate the ETF options on number of different criteria to identify and spot the most attractive one of all.
This paper examines the advantages and disadvantages of ETFs compared to index funds when investing in the German funds market. It examines total and average return, volatility and tracking error of ETFs versus index funds tracking the DAX. Also a regression analysis is done in order to draw conclusion on the funds’ alpha, beta and coefficient determinant.
It can be concluded that the hypothesis of whether ETFs are a cost-efficient way for institutional investors to invest in the DAX stands and evidence is provided. Results indicate that ETFs achieve higher average returns and less average volatili-ty. In addition, ETFs pursue a better full replication strategy than index funds. As a result, the tracking error for ETFs is lower than the index funds’.
2Introduction
Some studies have revealed that institutional investors put less emphasis on trading through stock exchange but prefer to directly create and redeem ex-change traded funds. An exchange-traded fund is a type of investment product that represent basket of securities such as the DAX index and are made available only through brokers and advisors.
It was in 1993, that the American Stock Exchange launched the Spiders, SPDR to track the S&P 500. It was the first exchange traded product on markets with more coming later on. Diamonds was launched in 1998 which tracked the Dow Jones in industrial average and Cubes in 1999, which tracked the NASDAQ 100
But it was the mutual funds that were the most popular with institutional and private investors both for quite some time. This trend however is only now beginning to change as institutions find that ETFs can help attain a variety of goals that many other investment vehicles simply cannot provide. A recent survey from Greenwich Associates (carried out in 2010) that polled 70 investment firms revealed that ETF use is rising sharply. Among the highlights of the study: use of ETFs among pension funds, endowments and charitable foundations has grown to about 14%. ...

Den Begriff der „Diziplinargesellschaft“ beschreibt der französischen Philosoph Michel Foucault 1975 in seinem Buch „Überwachen und Strafen“. In diesem Buch beschreibt Foucault ein bestimmtes Gefängnis. Das sogenannte „Panoptikum“ ist hierbei Modell und Inbegriff der Diziplinargesellschaft. Jeder Gefangen wird im Panoptikum dauerhaft überwacht, bzw. hat das Gefühl dauerhaft beobachtet zu werden. Diese Methode der Bestrafung soll, als Alternative der körperlichen Züchtigung die Seele des Gefangenen verletzen, sowie unerwünschtes Verhalten durch Überwachung verhindern. Mit diesem Szenario Foucaults entstand ein öffentlicher Diskurs über den Sinn und Unsinn von Strafe und Prävention. Wie lassen sich diese beiden Begriffe zusammen bringen? Der angesprochene Diskurs ist jedoch nicht neu. Diverse Autoren nahmen auch schon früher die Kritik an einer Überwachungsgesellschaft auf. 1947 beschreibt George Orwell in seinem Roman „1984“ die Dystophie (Anti-Utopie, pessimistische Zukunftsversion) eines totalitären Überwachungsstaates. Aber auch Aldous Huxley veröffentlichte bereits 1932 „Brave new World“ wo ein fiktiver Weltstaat durch die Auswahl und Veränderung der DNA, also noch vor der Geburt, Menschen ohne Anlagen zu kriminellen oder der Gesellschaft nicht zuträglichem Verhalten zu züchten (Form der Prävention). Den weitesten Blick in die Zukunft wagt H.G. Wells in seinem Roman „The Time-Maschine“. Hierbei entdeckt ein Zeitreisender in ferner Zukunft eine Lebensform deren Vorfahren insoweit präventive Maßnahmen ergriffen haben, dass diese Gesellschaft gar nicht mehr weiß was Kriminalität ist. Entsprechend sind diese Wesen völlig verweichlicht und zu keinerlei Selbstreflexion fähig. Aber auch in neuere Medien wie „Equilibrium“ oder „Matrix“ üben Kritiken an der Diziplinargesellschaft. Serien wie „Big Brother“ beweisen mit ihren hohen Einschaltquoten aber auch eine gewisse Beobachtungslust aller Menschen. Werden Menschen beobachtet wird diese Begebenheit allerding negativ bewertet. In Großbritannien beispielsweise wird die Anzahl der Überwachungskameras auf 4 Mio. geschätzt. Aber auch in Deutschland kann das Verhalten der Menschen durch Handyortung und Internetnutzung nachvollzogen werden. Die Überwachung von Menschen stellt eine Möglichkeit der Prävention dar. „Prävention“ dient zur Abwehr möglicher Gefahren und Störungen. Wörtliche übersetzt bedeutet Prävention...

Zudem löste er eine Dynastie ab, deren Begründer Augustus alle anderen Versuche, eine neue Dynastie zu etablieren in den Schatten stellen musste. Und dennoch gelang es Vespasian, diese Herausforderung, neben anderen, erfolgreich zu meistern.
Die Frage die sich dabei stellt, ist: Wie schafft man es, einen Neuankömmling in der höchsten Politik soweit zu profilieren, dass er allgemein anerkannt ist, sich als Kaiser etabliert und sogar eine neue Dynastie letztendlich gründet? Der Kaiser musste außergewöhnliche Fähigkeiten besitzen, sonst könnte ihm bald ein anderer seine Stellung als primus inter pares streitig machen. Dargestellt wurde in diesem Fall bei Vespasian die außergewöhnliche Fähigkeit als die einer transzendenten Verbindung zur Götterwelt, die sich in der Fähigkeit der Vollbringung von Wunderheilungen zeigt.Die moderne Geschichtsforschung jedoch ordnet die Erzählung derartiger Geschehnisse als Fähigkeit zur geschickten politischen Inszenierung (religiöser Art) ein.
Es ist klar, dass dies nicht im gesamten Umfang, und schon gar nicht in einer Proseminarshausarbeit bearbeitet werden kann. Deshalb soll nur ein Teil des Ganzen betrachtet werden.3 Hierzu bietet sich die Erzählung der Wunderheilungen Vespasians in Alexandria an, von der uns die drei senatorischen Schriftsteller Cassius Dio, Sueton und Tacitus berichten.
Zuerst wende ich mich dabei dem historischen Kontext zu, in den das Ereignis eingebettet ist. Dann folgt eine Synopse und inhaltliche Darstellung der drei Berichte, dem sich die Erläuterung der Bedeutung von dem Ort und Gottheit anschließt. Im Anschluss folgt die Analyse der Begebenheit bezüglich der Strategen und der Auswirkung auf die Zeitgenossen.

Wenn Eltern mit dem Kind einfühlsam umgehen und Grundbedürfnisse befriedigen können, fühlt es sich sicher und geborgen und die Wahrscheinlichkeit einer Vernachlässigung ist sehr gering. In meiner Hausarbeit habe ich aufgezeigt, dass eine (drohende) Vernachlässigung zu massiven Beeinträchtigungen und Schäden der kindlichen Entwicklung führen kann. In einer Gesellschaft mit häufig unbeständigen Familienverhältnissen und vielen Beziehungsabbrüchen steigt die Gefahr einer emotionalen Vernachlässigung und die daraus resultierenden Folgeschäden beim Kind. Deshalb bestehen Wege und Erfordernisse der Hilfe und Prävention für Väter, Mütter und Kinder mit einem Vernachlässigungsrisiko. Ein Kind kommt nicht mit einer Traumatisierung zur Welt, sondern nur mit dem Risiko und der Möglichkeit, eine zu entwickeln. Familien mit vielfältigen Problemen, sogenannten Risikofaktoren, in diversen Lebensbereichen benötigen Hilfeleistungen zur besseren Wahrnehmung ihrer Erziehungsverantwortung. Letztlich liegen bei Vernachlässigungen und emotionalen Misshandlungen unterschiedlich ausgeprägte Konstellationen persönlicher biografischer Defizite der Eltern, aufgrund eigener Deprivation oder Gewalterfahrung, familiäre, sozial vererbte oder anderweitig gestörte Bindungsfähigkeit, sowie ungünstige soziale Faktoren wie Armut, Alkoholismus, berufliche und persönliche Hoffnungslosigkeit und soziale Isolation vor. Der individuellen Unterstützung in Vernachlässigungsfamilien kommt auf diese Weise eine große Bedeutung zu. Die Kooperation unterschiedlicher Fachkräfte ist signifikant für die Wirksamkeit der Hilfen. Die Vernachlässigungsproblematik von Kindern weist darauf hin, dass gesellschaftliche Strukturen und Rahmenbedingungen in Wechselbeziehung mit individuellen Ursachen einen erheblichen Einfluss auf die Entstehung von Vernachlässigung haben. Vernachlässigung ist demnach nicht nur als individuelles Problem zu betrachten, sondern muss im Kontext der gesamten Lebensgeschichte des Kindes und den familiären und gesellschaftlichen Bedingungen gesehen und verstanden werden...

A year later, as a divinity student at Nashville’s Vanderbilt University, Lawson drew a small but morally charged number of young men and women from the black colleges to his regular training sessions in non-violent protest1. In the fall of 1959, this Nashville student group stages test sit-ins at segregated city restaurants and lunch counters. Staying just long enough to draw refusal of service, they failed either to change management policy or to draw others into the protest. Lawson had outrun the zeitgeist by a few months. With the Greensboro sit-ins of February 1960, though, the Nashville group acquired a prophetic luster. Soon Lawson was directing hundreds of students who volunteered in disciplined protests against segregation in downtown stores.

Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2007 im Fachbereich Germanistik - Komparatistik, Vergleichende Literaturwissenschaft, Note: 2,0, Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz (Insitut für Allgemeine und Vergleichende Literaturwissenschaft), Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Der unter der Regie von Veit Harlan entstandene, 1940 in Venedig uraufgeführte Film Jud Süß ist nicht nur „die sicherlich spektakulärste und umstrittenste Version“ unter den Bearbeitungen des historischen Stoffes um den württembergischen Hoffaktor Joseph Süß Oppenheimer, der von 1733 bis 1737 am Hof des Herzogs Carl Alexander wirkte, sondern auch die wohl krasseste antisemitische unter den mittlerweile zahlreichen Adaptionen. Der älteren, gleichnamige Novelle von Wilhelm Hauff aus dem Jahre 1827 lassen sich dennoch ebenfalls bereits antisemitische Züge nachweisen. Die Adaptionen Hauffs und Harlans als die wichtigsten bisherigen zu bezeichnen, erscheint angebracht, wobei ebenso auf ihre jeweiligen Gegenpole hingewiesen werden soll, denn die Novelle grenzt sich bezüglich ihrer antisemitischen Färbung ebenso stark von dem Roman Jud Süß von Lion Feuchtwanger (1925) ab, wie sich der nationalsozialistische Propagandafilm Harlans von der Bearbeitung durch Lothar Mendes (Jew Süss , 1934) unterscheidet.

Travail d'étude de l’année 2012 dans le domaine Lettres - Afrique, , cours: Langue et Litterature, langue: Français, résumé: The language and style of Ahmadou Kourouma have been and still remain a great source of controversy for many scholars, following the publication of his very first novel, “Les Soleils des Indépendances”, in 1968. Some have called it barbaric, while others have called it an innovative masterpiece. The same type of language and style characterize the production of Kourouma’s subsequent novels, despite the loud and virulent criticisms and vilifications he received as a result. These language and style assume a dizzy prominence in his last but one novel, “Allah n’est pas obligé.”
A reading of Kourouma’s novels : “Les Soleils des Indépendances”, “Monnè, Outrages et Défis”, “En Attendant le vote des bêtes sauvages”, “ Allah n’est pas oblige” et “Quand on refuse on dit non”, leaves one bewildered by the linguistic and artistic tapestry that marks the texts in their entirety. This novelist harmoniously interweaves the French language with Malinke, his mother tongue, especially, and some other African languages in an attempt to distinguish himself from many of his predecessors.
The mosaic nature of the diction, together with the strangeness of the syntactic structure of the language, projects the stylistic peculiarity of this novelist. Hence, they become a source of attraction for scholarly reflections beyond the purist perspective of grammarians.
This paper seeks to re-ignite the unending debate in literary and linguistic circles by asking whether the language and style of Kourouma are a barbarism or an apologetic stand for a linguistic syncretism, a precursor of real globalization.
Refuting the former, the paper seeks to postulate the latter. It therefore argues that, what makes of literature “Literature” is not a slavish respect of dogmatic principles but a bold stride by a writer towards harmonizing various linguistic and artistic resources in an aesthetic perspective. The paper reaffirms the committed desire in Kourouma to assert the symbiotic coexistence of languages and cultures for a real and sustainable human advancement and peace.

Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2012 im Fachbereich Soziologie - Konsum und Werbung, Universität Salzburg, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Die vorliegende Seminararbeit analysiert das Konsumverhalten von legalen Drogen. Der Fokus der Arbeit liegt auf den Substanzen Alkohol und Tabak. Das Hauptaugenmerk der Konsumenten liegt auf den Jugendlichen. Untersucht wird ob soziodemographische Differenzen beim Gebrauch von Alltagsdrogen bei Heranwachsenden relevant sind. Die gegebenen Problematiken und Risiken - die auf Grund des leichtfertigen Verhaltens Jugendlicher gegenüber legaler Drogen - werden außerdem Bestandteil meiner Arbeit sein.
Des Weiteren möchte ich die Motive, welche Einfluss auf den Heranwachsenden ausüben und eine Einsicht in das Konsumverhalten gewähren.
Ich werde mit dieser Arbeit versuchen, die Gründe und Faktoren Jugendlicher, die maßgebend sind für den Alkohol und Nikotinkonsum aufzuzeigen.
Weniger wichtig werden in dieser Arbeit die Geschlechtsspezifischen Unterschiede sein.

Zu allererst werde ich verdeutlichen welche Substanzen zu den legalen Drogen zählen und was man unter „psychoaktiver Substanz“ zu verstehen hat, ebenfalls werden die Termini „Genussmittel“, „Rauschmittel“ und „Suchtmittel“ erläutert.
Im zweiten Teil meiner Arbeit behandle ich die soziodemographischen Unterschiede, sowie die Prädiktoren die Einfluss auf das Verhalten Jugendlicher beim Konsum legaler Drogen haben. Zusätzlich werde ich über die derzeitigen Entwicklungstrends von Alltagsdrogen bei Teenagern erzählen.
Im letzten Teil der Seminararbeit folgt nach einer kurzen Zusammenfassung und Beantwortung der Forschungsfrage, meine eigene Meinung als auch die wichtigsten angesprochenen Punkte. Schlussfolgernd bleibt die Frage offen, ob eine Gesetzesverschärfung den Konsum legaler Drogen bei Jugendlichen zügeln kann? Und inwieweit man ein Desinteresse von Alltagssubstanzen bei Teenagern fördern kann?
