Schwangere Frauen werden nicht nur dahingehend untersucht, dass Komplikationen in der Schwangerschaft oder bei der Geburt frühzeitig erkannt werden, sondern auch auf genetische Defekte oder Fehlbildungen, die das Ungeborene aufweisen kann. Gerade weil pränataldiagnostische Verfahren heute zur Alltagspraxis von Gynäkologen und Geburtshelfern gehören und zu Routineuntersuchungen für schwangere Frauen geworden sind, ist es wichtig, sie auf ihre moralische Vertretbarkeit hin zu untersuchen. Ein zentraler Bezugspunkt in der folgenden Betrachtung soll dabei die Verbindung sein, die sich zwischen Befunden der Pränatalen Diagnostik und selektiven Schwangerschaftsabbrüchen feststellen lässt.

Zunächst sollen fundamentale Aspekte der Phänomene „Pränatale Diagnostik“ und „Schwangerschaftsabbruch“ dargelegt werden. Das Kapitel zur pränatalen Diagnostik geht auf einige häufig praktizierte Methoden vorgeburtlicher Diagnostik und die mit ihnen verbundenen Möglichkeiten und Risiken ein. Anschließend werden die rechtlichen Rahmenbedingungen erläutert, die die Praxis der pränatalen Diagnostik bestimmen. Zum Phänomen Schwangerschaftsabbruch werden ebenfalls Möglichkeiten und Methoden sowie potentielle Risiken desselben thematisiert. Auch hier findet eine Darstellung der rechtlichen Hintergründe statt, wobei unter anderem auf die Gesetzesänderung zur Abtreibungsregelung von 1995 eingegangen wird.

Im zweiten Teil dieser Arbeit wird untersucht, inwiefern pränatale Diagnostik für sich allein einen ethischen Problembereich darstellt oder ob vorgeburtliche Diagnosemethoden erst durch eine Koppelung an die Möglichkeit zu einem Schwangerschaftsabbruch zum moralischen Problemfall werden. Hierzu wird zunächst der Zusammenhang zwischen Befunden der pränatalen Diagnostik und Schwangerschaftsabbrüchen mit Hilfe statistischer Daten geklärt. Daraufhin wird untersucht, inwiefern pränataldiagnostische Methoden das Schwangerschaftserleben von Frauen beeinflussen oder verändern können. Abschließend wird dargestellt, welche Bedeutung Menschen mit Behinderung pränataler Diagnostik und selektiven Schwangerschaftsabbrüchen beimessen.

Erica T. Lehrer is Associate Professor of History and Anthropology and Canada Research Chair in Post-Conflict Memory, Ethnography, and Museology at Concordia University, where she founded and directs the Centre for Ethnographic Research and Exhibition in the Aftermath of Violence.

Capturing the complexities of today's Jewish Poland

This book means a lot to me. As a person for whom Poland is a very special place, I found in this book many descriptions and analyses that provide a vocabulary for explaining to family and friends what I am experiencing. This book also introduced me to special people who are involved in the important work being done in 'Jewish Poland'.
I am recommending this book to many of my colleagues who are intrigued as I am by today's Poland, and to anyone who wants to broaden their knowledge of one of the most exciting places in the Jewish world today.

A must for anyone who has done or will do a Jewish tour of Poland

This book is superb: incisive, insightful, and interesting. If you have done a "mission" or Jewish tour to Poland, it will help you view what you have done from another perspective and invite you to be self-conscious about what you have been through. If you plan such a trip, it will prepare you to be much more critical and intelligent about what you will see and experience.

It's not often that you find the perfect book for the perfect time in your life, but that's exactly what this book was for me. I found Jewish Poland Revisited just before leaving for my own Jewish heritage trip to Poland and this book provided a wonderful balance of personal reflection and academic insight. Highly recommended!

Tim Richmond was, fellow NASCAR driver Kyle Petty said, "a stranger in time." He pushed his race cars hard, too hard at times, driving every lap like he was hauling moonshine through the mountains of the Carolinas with a revenuer on his rear bumper. Those who saw him drive still compare him to veterans like Curtis Turner and Joe Weatherly, who ran as hard off the track as they did off of it. In the early 1980s, however, Richmond stood out. He was not from the South; he had not grown up slinging a stock car through the dirt on red-clay ovals. He had, in fact, never raced at all until he was twenty-one. And just ten years later, after making a splash in the Indianapolis 500 as a rookie, he was emerging as one of the brightest stars and greatest talents in NASCAR's Winston Cup Series.

Richmond's star was bright, but its light went out too soon. As he neared stock car racing's zenith, Richmond's life took a tragic turn. A man who thrived on the affection he felt from those who enjoyed watching him compete spent his final months almost completely shut off from that world. David Poole was a motorsports writer for the Charlotte Observer for twelve years, traveling around the country more than thirty weekends a year covering NASCAR’s top series and teams. He also wrote several books on NASCAR, including Tim Richmond: The Fast and Remarkable Times of NASCAR’s Top Gun. He passed away in 2009.

Could Have Been More

Tim Richmond was like a comet...burned brightly....faded quickly.David Poole does an adequate job of portraying Richmond's life on the track and off it as well.But beyond Kyle Petty and Rick Hendrick no one else related to NASCAR would go on the record with Poole.Where was Mark Martin ,Bill Elliott,Rusty Wallace et al ? These guys drove at the same time Richmond did.It would have been nice to read their thoughts.There is one HUGE error.Poole writes that Bill Elliott won the 1988 Daytona 500. (ouch) In fact Bobby Allison won that race,his last win in fact. (his son, the late Davey finished second) If you don't know Tim Richmond read this book.If you know his story...little else here will enlighten you.

I bought this book for my son, the racing fanatic.He loved it and said that he learned some "unknown facts" on Tim Richmond who was a racer way before my son's time.Being well informed on all forms and decades of racing
is what I was after by wanting this book for him. He was pleased with the book.

Lebensläufe weisen heutzutage weniger Gleichförmigkeit und Kontinuität auf. Vielmehr stehen Brüche und Diskontinuität an der Tagesordnung. Durch die zunehmende Individualisierung der Lebensläufe und Pluralisierung von Lebenslagen kommt es zwangsläufig zu mannigfaltigen Übergängen und Brüchen, die den Lebensverlauf von Individuen kennzeichnen. In Deutschland werden Übergänge durch ein institutionalisiertes Programm aus verschiedenen Instanzen des Beschäftigungs- und Bildungssystems, die sich auf einander beziehen, dominiert. Dabei gehen Institutionen bzw. Instanzen wie Schulen von der sogenannten Normalbiografie aus, die durch einen kontinuierlichen Lebenslauf geprägt ist, aus. Allerdings hat der „Mythos der Normalbiografie“ in einem komplexen Bild der Arbeitswelt keinen Bestand mehr. In unserer schnelllebigen Gesellschaft gibt es immer mehr Übergänge und Brüche in den Lebensläufen der Menschen, weswegen eine Reaktion der genannten Institutionen hinsichtlich dieses Umstandes unabdingbar ist (vgl. Gottwald 2010, S. 237 – 238). Menz geht sogar so weit, dass sie die bisherige Gesellschaft nicht mehr als Arbeitsgesellschaft, sondern viel eher als Übergangsgesellschaft tituliert (vgl. Menz 2009, S. 56).
Die zentrale Fragestellung die dieser Hausarbeit zugrunde liegt, lautet wie folgt: „Wieso wird die Perspektive der biographischen Übergangsszenarien benötigt, um ein zielgruppenorientiertes regionales bzw. lokales Übergangsmanagement zu gestalten?“ Dazu wird in Kapitel 2 erst einmal geklärt, was Übergange überhaupt sind. An dieser Stelle wird bewusst kein Übergang wie der von Schule – Beruf exemplarisch dargestellt, da der vorgegebene Rahmen dieser Arbeit dafür nicht ausreichend ist. Im darauf folgenden Kapitel 3 wird die Perspektive der biographischen Szenarien kurz dargestellt. Danach wird in Kapitel 4 ein Modell zur Gestaltung eines regionalen Übergangsmanagements vorgestellt und weiterhin werden allgemeine Punkte, die bei der Entwicklung eines Modells zum Übergangsmanagement elementar sind, festgehalten. Abgeschlossen wird diese Arbeit durch ein Fazit, in welchem die oben stehende Fragestellung beantwortet werden soll.

Lovalerie King is Director of the Africana Research Center, Associate Professor, and Director of Graduate Studies in African American studies at Pennsylvania State University. Bereits 1974 legte die Deutsche Bischofskonferenz in ihrem wegweisenden Beschluss „Der Religionsunterricht“ während der Würzbürger Synode fest: „Religionsunterricht soll zu verantwortlichem Denken und Verhalten im Hinblick auf Religion und Glaube befähigen.“ Das soll „ausgehend von der bildenden Kraft des Evangeliums und der kirchlichen Verkündigung […]“ geschehen, wie im Vorwort des Lehrplans für das Gymnasium in Bayern nachzulesen ist.
Die ‚Bibeltheologische Didaktik‘ will genau diese beiden Punkte zusammenbringen. Es geht in diesem Konzept darum, Begegnungen zwischen den Schülerinnen und Schülern und der Welt der Bibel zu ermöglichen. Eine reine Lektüre der biblischen Texte ist hierfür nicht ausreichend, denn vielmehr benötigt eine gelingende und tiefgehende Begegnung verschiedene methodische Zugänge und Informationen verschiedener Art, nämlich zum einen über die Umstände, in denen die Texte entstanden sind, und zum anderen, wie die Texte in verschiedenen Situationen ausgelegt worden sind. Noch mehr: Die Beschäftigung mit den biblischen Texten soll die Schülerinnen und Schüler herausfordern, soll sie ergreifen, soll sie verändern. Im Idealfall ermöglicht die bibeltheologische Didaktik eine ganzheitliche Erfahrung, die Schülerinnen und Schüler dazu befähigen soll, sich und ihren (Nicht-)Glauben zu positionieren.
Die vorliegende Arbeit besteht aus zwei Teilen. Im ersten Teil wird der Ansatz der ‚Bibeltheologischen Didaktik‘ von Mirjam Schambeck vorgestellt, bevor er im zweiten Teil anhand der Theophanie-Erzählung des Elias (1 Kön 19,1-15a) präzisiert wird. Als Zugang wird hier die Vertonung des ‚Elias‘ von Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy im Zentrum stehen. Auch soll die Lebenswelt der Schülerinnen und Schüler nicht außen vor gelassen werden: Sie können für sich entscheiden, wie sie den Text selbst vertonen würden. Damit ist bereits ein Ziel der bibeltheologischen Didaktik aufgezeigt: Die Lernenden füllen mögliche Leerstellen des Textes mit eigenen Ideen, eigenem Gedankengut und eigenen Emotionen, also mit Ihrer Persönlichkeit. Damit begegnet die bibeltheologische Didaktik dem Ziel, „die Vielfalt der Stimmen eines Textes und der Stimmen der Leser im Zusammenhang mit dem Text zu einer Symphonie erklingen zu lassen […].

Great book

I really enjoyed this book- great perspective of the life in the interior of Argentina. I really recommend this book for all those who enjoy discovering new topics and authors.

Espero ansiosa la segunda parte.

En el terreno agotado del relato de iniciación esta novela tiene la energía de la primera vez, tiene urgencia, como si la autora se hubiese sentado en la silla y la hubiese escrito de un tirón. Y eso es muy contagioso al lector porque es un libro muy difícil de dejar, uno quiere seguir y seguir leyendo. Y no por ser una primera novela, ni por esa agilidad que la caracteriza, tiene una prosa descuidada. Al contrario, los recursos y las imágenes son delicados, sensibles, la sintaxis es prolija, la autora es periodista y se nota. Además de las observaciones ingeniosas y de una trama dulce en el escenario insólito del telo, el libro está plagado de humor, que es algo que no abunda estos días en la literatura joven argentina. El contexto social y político le da un baño de realidad a las aventuras que vive la familia protagonista, que se enfrenta con originalidad a militares, neoliberales, curas, compañeros de escuela y políticos corruptos. El capítulo en el que Menem visita el pueblo es una joya. Espero ansiosa la segunda parte.

Desde la perspectiva inusual de la hija de dueña de un Telo en la Patagonia, la historia ofrece una visión del Peronismo en la clandestinidad de los años 70 hasta llegar al desencanto de los años 90 donde un Menem "dandy enano" aterriza en el pueblo a hacer campaña piloteando su propia avioneta. Todo contado con ingenuidad, frescura y humor, a través de los ojos de una niña. Se lee rápido y dan ganas de viajar en el tiempo y el espacio. La recomiendo.
