Aus der Forschung ergeben sich überzeugende Beweise, daß sie bibelkonform „wüst und leer“ war, in den Termini der Astrophysik eine Verdichtung von Energie und Masse/Materie (siehe auch Einsteinformel), hoch elektrisch und radioaktiv, im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes funkensprühend. Es hat kosmischer Zeiträume bedurft, um diese radikale Elektrizität und Radioaktivität soweit zu dämpfen, daß Leben entstehen konnte. Interessanterweise scheint die Elektrizität bei der Entstehung organischer Moleküle und Stoffe eine Schlüsselrolle gespielt zu haben, wie die Versuche von Urey und Miller um 1953 belegen.
Die Erde als Himmelskörper ist, weit aus dem Weltraum gesehen, elektrisch eine Punktladung, deren momentane Größe beziffert werden kann. Nach neueren Erkenntnissen scheint sie in der Größenordnung 900000 C (900000 Coulomb) zu liegen. Allerdings wegen Atmosphäre und Interaktion mit dem Weltraum bei näherem Hinsehen eine recht komplizierte und weder räumlich noch zeitlich konstante Punktladung.
Was weit aus dem Weltraum gesehen als Punkt erscheint, entpuppt sich beim Näherkommen als ein eigener, höchst komplexer Kosmos. Beim Aufbau der Erde stößt man allenthalben auf Elektrizität. Die Humusschicht, unsere Lebensgrundlage, ist durch Ionen elektrisch leitend; die Erdkruste aus Sedimenten, sauren und basischen Erstarrungsgesteinen, durchsetzt von Wasser mit gelösten Teilchen/Ionen; darunter der Erdmantel mit ultrabasischen Silikaten; dann Nickeleisen, je nach Tiefe flüssig bis fest, und natürlich gut elektrisch leitend (Nickeleisen fest = Elektronenleitung, flüssig = Elektronen- und Ionenleitung). Das geoelektromagnetische Stromsystem im Erdinneren befindet sich unterhalb von 2900 km Tiefe an der Grenzschicht zwischen Erdmantel und Erdkern. Reibung zwischen den verschiedenen Erdschollen und –Schichten hat Reibungselektrizität zur Folge, an Diffusion zwischen verschiedenen Materialien sind ebenfalls elektrische Ladungen beteiligt.
