Die Konsumenten in der Schweiz nehmen im internationalen Vergleich eine Spitzenposition ein. So haben sich hierzulande bspw. die Verzeigungen aufgrund von Wiederhandlungen gegen das Betäubungs-mittelgesetz im Zeitraum von 1990 bis 2004 verdreifacht. Insgesamt ist der Cannabiskonsum seit den Neunzigerjahren bis zur Jahrtausendwende deutlich angestiegen. Aktuelle Untersuchungen auf globaler Ebene konstatieren nun aber einen leichten Rückgang oder eine Trendwende des Konsumverhaltens.
Während die epidemiologische Forschung zum Cannabiskonsum und dessen Folgen für die körperliche und psychische Gesundheit mittlerweile weit fortgeschritten ist, befindet sich die Wissenschaft um evidenzbasierte Behandlung noch im Anfangsstadium. Cannabisbezogene Störungen spielen insbesondere in den spezifischen Beratungsstellen der Jugendhilfe aber auch in hohem Masse in der psychiatrischen Versorgung seit mindestens zehn Jahren eine zunehmend gewichtigere Rolle. Da ein dringender Bedarf an praxisrelevanten Interventions-programmen vorhanden ist, wird in den letzten Jahren verstärkt die Erweiterung der translationalen Forschung gefordert.
Im vorliegenden Beitrag werden einige Ergebnisse epidemiologischer Daten zum Konsumverhalten in der Schweiz präsentiert, wissenschaftliche Erkenntnisse zu cannabisbezogenen Störungen, psychiatrischer Diagnostik und Komorbidität sowie Folgerungen für die präventive und therapeutische Intervention dargelegt.
