Clear, informed, useful. The concepts and exercises are solidly based on the real world of bass performance. You can also feel the joy and fascination that Mr. Grodner has lived with his bass. Overall a good addition to my library of books regarding the pursuit of the double bass as an expressive instrument. Get this book and enjoy!

Required Reading for Bassists

The amount of information contained in this book is staggering. While most of the content targets the bassist pursuing orchestral playing as a career, the concepts regarding technique and how to approach solving specific musical issues have universal application.
