Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2008 im Fachbereich Medien / Kommunikation - Film und Fernsehen, Note: 2.00, Universität Wien (Institut der Kultur- und Sozialanthropologie an der Universität Wien), Veranstaltung: „MIME. Media and Ritual Embodiment: Zur visuellen Umsetzung von Spiritualität“, Modul MAKOTRA, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Der Film in der Kultur- und Sozialanthropologie hatte in seinen Anfängen einen eher umstrittenen Stellenwert. Auch heute wird unser Fach nach wie vor von Printmedien dominiert, doch durch die immer weiter sensibilisierte Weise mit diesem Medium umzugehen - als bildliche Ergänzung der Übermacht an Texten und als Möglichkeit ein breiteres Publikum anzusprechen - entstand bis heute bereits eine nicht unbeachtliche Anzahl an kultur- und sozialanthropologischen Filmen, die Rezipienten weit mehr mitgeben als das Gefühl eines kurzen Ausflugs in exotische Gefilde.
In meiner Arbeit setze ich mich mit dem Film „Die Reise nach Wirikuta. Die Huichol und der Peyote-Kaktus“ (1998) der Kultur- und Sozialanthropologen Ingrid Kummels und Manfred Schäfer auseinander. Im Zuge einer Analyse seiner Bildebene werde ich mich im Besonderen der Bildgestaltung mittels Kamerablick widmen.
Anhand einer Betrachtung der Handlungsphasen möchte ich exemplarisch auf die Kamera als (tonloses) Kommunikationsmittel eingehen, das uns gestattet, mit ins Feld zu gehen und eine abenteuerliche Reise zu bestehen und uns dabei die Dualität von außenstehendem Beobachter und im Feld agierendem Kultur- uns Sozialanthropologe immer wieder spüren lässt.
Mein Ziel ist es, mittels Analyse dieser filmischen Arbeit die Bedeutung des Bildes, in seiner Nutzung als Transportmittel für mehr als bloße Dokumentation des uns „Fremden“, herauszuarbeiten.
